The Boston Birding Festival is a Massachusetts nonprofit organization founded in 2023. Your gift may be tax deductible.
Become a Friend of the Festival by making a monthly or annual gift.
You will be supporting our ability to offer free and low-cost ongoing community programming year-round that produces greater awareness of conservation, environmental justice, and climate issues—through the special and accessible lens of birding.
As the ecologist, Dr. Thomas Lovejoy (the “godfather of biodiversity) put it, “If you take care of birds, you take care of most of the environmental problems in the world.”
Your gift makes a significant impact on the programming we can offer. With your support, we can:
- Introduce participants to birds through welcoming small group experiences
- Create greater appreciation and support for the work of environmental leaders in our community
- Help protect more birds and habitat by building more awareness of the causes of bird population decline and empowering people to act
- Show that birding is a way to heal social division
- Nurture the habits of scientific curiosity, close observation, focused attention, and wondering
- Offer recreation, entertainment, joy, exploration, discovery, adventure, and fresh air to a wide range of people
- Help more people understand the importance of participatory science and its role in environmental justice
- Help more people feel comfortable, knowledgeable, confident, and curious in wild places
- Inspire and empower people to take action on climate, conservation, and environmental justice
By supporting our year-round programming, you are helping us lay the groundwork for ongoing small events and annual multi-day festivals. Small events allow us to test program ideas and improve these experiences. They give us the opportunity us develop relationships with partners for the future. They enable us to identify and connect with important emerging voices, new leaders, and educators, and give them, a chance to gain experience.
