Presented by the Norman Bird Sanctuary
The Boston Birding Festival is excited to partner with the Norman Bird Sanctuary for this special walk.
We’ll explore salt marsh, mudflats, beaches, and red seaweed along the rocky shore, looking for shorebirds and migrants. Later, we’ll also walk the trails of Sachuest Point and check out some of the observation towers.
The Norman Bird Sanctuary protects habitat for a variety of birds, including the Saltmarsh Sparrow. Shorebirds, seabirds, gulls, and terns can also be interesting here, as well as migrating passerines. The Sanctuary has a list of over 242 species. Sachuset Point, with its spectacular seabirds, has 265. We’re lucky to have two terrific locals (one from the Norman Bird Sanctuary and one from Sachuest Point NWR leading this trip,
We’ll be birding several nearby locations and traveling to them by carpool. Trails are relatively flat and easily navigable. Some hard-packed beach. A little rocky shore.
Free. New birders and the merely bird curious are welcome on this walk. You don’t want to miss this one. We will have binoculars to lend—email your request in advance.
See you out there!
