ABOUT THIS TRIP

HABITAT

Middlesex Fells (Gate 55)
Saturday, Oct 4,  2025
8:30 AM to about 10:30 AM
Presented in partnership with The Great Malden Outdoors

Put your new birding knowledge and skills with this low-key walk in the beautiful Middlesex Fells. We’ll look for migrating raptors, straggling songbirds, and newly arrived ducks! In birding, one day the birds are in and the next day they’re out and on their way somewhere else.

This walk can be challenging if the leaves are wet. Expect some elevation. A sturdy shoe is recommended.

Directions: Meet at DCR Gate 55, which is clearly marked. This gate is located at the intersection of Fellsway East and East Border Road.

This is a follow-on event to Tap into Birds! Please register separately at this link [LINK] for that event (Oct 1).

New birders and the merely bird curious are welcome on this walk. We have some binoculars to loan as well. Request in advance!

Spaces limited. Please register in advance! We will notify you about changes due to the weather.

See you out there!

ABOUT THE GREAT MALDEN OUTDOORS

The Great Malden Outdoors is a public & private partnership aimed at getting all Malden residents outdoors. We are an outdoor enablement campaign created by First Seed Sown Sales & Marketing, but owned by the city of Malden. Our goal is building and maintaining equitable access to outdoor recreation for Maldonians, reducing the “Adventure Gap”, while fostering recreational pursuits in the city. The Great Malden Outdoors creates awareness of outdoor recreation, provides outdoor rec programs for residents, discovers and reduces barriers to entry, and provides sustainable resources to keep Maldonians recreating outside for years to come. From learning to bird or bike, to paddling, running, and rock climbing, The Great Outdoors Malden has something for every adventurer. [LINK]
