DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
GPS can be inaccurate at this location. Look for St. Ann Catholic Church on Cochituate Road. Green Way is directly across the street. Keep right through the housing development to the small parking lot. Park without wasting space, if you can.

Managed by the Sudbury Valley Trustees the beautiful Greenways Conservation Area is part of the former Paine Estate that was purchased by SVT and the Town of Wayland in 1995. Today this parcel includes woodlands, wetlands, fields, and meadows—and an almost one-half mile stretch of the Sudbury River. The river in this section is also designated as a Wild and Scenic River by the National Park Service, which ensures its protection.
A meadow in the north section of this area is being rewilded by SVT with native plants and has attracted the attention of grassland birds, bees, and butterflies.
We’ll explore some of the two miles of trails and see what we can find. Generally, this is a very birdy spot and a favorite of the BBF team.

TRAILS
This walk is easy/moderate, about 2 miles over mostly flat trail surfaces. The trails include mowed paths, some boardwalks, muddy wetland paths, and woodland trails with roots and rocks. The trails can be slippery and very muddy in some places.
CHALLENGES
Please note: there is no restroom on site. The closest facilities may be some distance away at dining establishments in Wayland Center. We may encounter leashed and off-leash dogs at this property.

We care for some of this region’s most important forests, wetlands, and grasslands—natural areas that support wildlife habitat, working farms, and recreational trails. As of Fall 2024, SVT cares for more than 5,900 acres in 94 SVT-Owned Conservation Areas and 100 Conservation Restrictions, and we have protected more than 70 miles of trails. Since our inception, we have assisted other organizations and governmental agencies in protecting an additional 3,000 acres in the region.
